Case Study

Project Summary

Website re-design, information architecture, custom applications and CMS installation.

Project Details

When the FVRD selected us to complete their new site in July 2014, they knew it was time to put their old website out to pasture. Their previous site not only had an out-of-date look but site users were finding it increasingly difficult to find the information they requested. So it was up to us to see what we could produce!

We combined warm and welcoming visuals with responsive design to cultivate a site that would work well on any platform, whether they be computers, tablets or mobile devices. We focused on streamlining navigation, which addressed the District's issue of people's inability to find necessary info. We also added a powerful search tool that will steer site users to the right place, much more easily.

Twitter feed integration and social media were added, as was an integrated interactive trail guide map. A detailed trail guide search was also incorporated into the site. With such gorgeous scenery in the area, we wanted to help do everything we could to get people out into it and on the trails!

A high contrast stylesheet and text re-sizer were added for visually impaired users, and a newsletter and online polls were added to cultivate increased interactivity with website users.

In the end, we combined these improvements to create an attractive, efficient and highly powerful new website that shows off the beauty and excitement of both the rural and urban areas of the FVRD.
