Description
Thrifty Foods is one of our longest-standing clients and one with whom we continue to enjoy a terrific working relationship, so when they approached us in December 2007 looking for a tasty new microsite for one of their suppliers, we were only too happy to oblige. When we found out it was a site in which we could use some new design ideas and try out a few cool web tricks, our mouths watered.
The website in question was for Buck Brand, the major citrus fruit provider to the Thrifty Foods chain. Buck Brand grows fruit that includes Navel Oranges, Pomelo, Tangelo, Tangerine, Grapefruit, Sweet Limes, Mandarins, Lemons and Limequats, and that's just to name a few! With so many delicious products to talk about, we needed to create a delectable design that displayed all the fruits in all their tantalizing glory.
Thrifty's gave us some hints as to where they'd like the design to go, and then gave us a blank slate and a whole lot of creative license from that point on. We took the terrific imagery we received and created a warm, alluring design from it, one that attractively and unobtrusively displayed the true highlights of the website - the fruits themselves.
We then created some fancy functionality for the site, adding a handsome contest entry form and a customized Google map that displayed Buck Brand's enviable location in central California. We also included a pinch of web chicanery in order to add some transparency to our design, allowing for improved usability, functionality and browser re-sizing. What we ended up with was a sumptuous new website… plus, no scurvy!
